Online Coaching Tips - How to Choose a Life Coaching Program
This article talks about how you can use your life coaching to take you to the next level. The reason I included a life coaching article is because in much of business coaching, how successful your business is depends upon your own personal beliefs and systems. If your beliefs support what you want to create in your business, then it’s just a matter of doing. If your beliefs don’t support what you want to create, then you will struggle and struggle big.
“Your life in their hands” - a phrase usually reserved for the medical profession, has surely never been more true than when trying to choose a life coaching programme to buy or join. Life coaches set themselves up as experts, (and plenty are), but remember, they are professing to be an expert on a very important subject - you!
How do you decide from the plethora of life coaches and life coaching programmes you’ll be bombarded with as soon as you “Google” the phrase? To know the answer to that, you must first apply a little bit of life coaching to yourself.
Ask yourself one simple question: “When I have finished with my life coaching programme, where will I be in my life compared to where I am now?” You must not allow yourself to be satisfied with an abstract answer. Instead, you should think of it like the advertisements of old - as if there could be a “before and after” video. What would the differences be? What would a veiwer see or hear?
You cannot see “feeling better,” or “more positive attitudes”. You can see behaviour. To be certain of your choice of life coaching programme, you would be wise to ask one further supplemental question, which is this: “What would be the least change, shift or measurable difference I’d accept as evidence that the life coaching programme I’ve chosen is working? And by when?”
This is known as the “minimum change”. It’s a sign that you’re turning whatever corner you wish to go around. The message here is simple, the moral profound. Picking a life coaching programme requires team work - in other words, some effort on your part. Do not abdicate responsibility for your life or your future by making a random choice.
The two part process I have described above is the logical element to choosing a suitable life coaching programme. There is, however, one more vital element which on no account should you overlook or ignore, and that is the emotional one.
As you pick through the myriad life coaching programmes available to you, ask yourself one totally subjective question: “Does this feel good?” If it does, and you know the answers to the two questions above, then it’s a fair bet that you have found the right life coaching programme for you at this time.
Next year, even next week, things - and you - might be different. But for now, you and that life coaching programme have a fit. Enjoy the relationship. It should change your life.
